Top 10 Hottest Car Models for 2019
While we don’t live in a world with flying cars just yet, the auto industry is moving at an incredibly fast pace, introducing innovative designs and tech savvy cars every year. No matter what type of car aficionado you consider yourself to be — whether you’re in it for the glitz and glamour or looking for the latest eco-friendly options — as we begin to wrap up the 2010s, there’s a car for just about everyone.
Before we begin, let’s look into some of the biggest car and automotive trends taking over the industry right now. Rev up your engines, everyone!
Car Trends For 2019
The Rise Of Electric Vehicles
In an effort to have a more positive impact on climate and reduce emissions, automakers are finally stepping up to the plate by offering more electric vehicle (EV) options. According to industry insiders, over 43 model launches are slated for 2019. This will only be met with open arms as statistics already show a high demand for electric vehicles. In 2018, almost 35,000 plug-in electric cars were sold in Canada, a total of 158% increase from the previous year. With numbers only expected to go up, their availability will be received positively by drivers across the country.
More Safety Features
Safety has always been a top priority in the auto industry and that’s showing no signs of stopping. In the last couple years, there has been a rise in the number of onboard safety features including child locks, emergency braking, blindspot monitoring and more. As we head into the next few months, don’t be surprised to start seeing safety features that include facial recognition or software that monitors movement inside your car. For example, if you leave your dog in the back seat while you quickly step into the grocery store, new car technology will let you monitor their movement straight onto your phone.
A Push For Automated Technology
While the mainstream market is seeing a lot of new upgrades and technological features being added into new car models, what we’re seeing doesn’t even compare to what’s expected to come. Almost every auto company is making moves to try and incorporate fully autonomous technology into their vehicles. This would allow cars to navigate driver-less without any human intervention. Many auto companies like Toyota, GM, and Ford are leading the way in this movement, hosting multiple pilot projects to fine-tune the technology in hopes to get autonomous cars to mainstream markets within the next few years.
Subscription Service Is Coming And Here To Stay
As we head into a world of autonomous driving, subscription car services will quickly follow. Many auto experts believe the future of car ownership will shift to the point where it’ll become obsolete. They predict car companies will be the ones owning cars, utilizing them for car subscription services. The same way people pay for Netflix and Spotify, people will be able to pay for subscription car services where they’ll be able to use automated ridesharing cars at their convenience.

Apple Car (iCar)
We can’t talk about the future without talking about Apple who likes to dip their fingers in just about any tech opportunity possible. While we’re jumping the gun here with this one, there have been rumours that Apple plans to launch their own electric car sometime in the very near future. There have been reports of an iCar project since 2015 but it’s unclear when they’re planning to roll it out. Some reports suggest they’re working on an autonomous driving platform they plan to launch with a new car model in 2020. However, some are skeptical whether or not that will even happen as Apple let go of more than 200 employees in the beginning of 2019 from their reported car project, some even suggesting that the entire project was tossed out. Considering Apple’s track record for introducing the world to groundbreaking technology, something tells us this project is still quietly in the works. It’s very likely an iCar is coming, it’s just a matter of when.
